Trudeau French Oak Boards

New to Peponi Home are these fabulous Cheeseboards, Chopping boards and Placemats. Natural or Oiled - they are our new favourite boards.

Double Iron Handle Board - 55 x 20 cm

Hand crafted from French oak wine barrels. These barrels have been used in the process of ageing red wines that are produced in the beautiful Franschhoek valley. The French oak used for these barrels is over a hundred years old and was growing prior to the First World War. Red wine colouring and aroma are still evident. The boards are produced on a wine farm situated on the slopes of the Franschhoek Pass.

Krafthaus

Recently arrived at Peponi Home are a range of throws, runners, pillows and handbags from Krafthaus.

Krafthaus is a South African company that works exclusively with handcrafted felt and knitted products to create the most incredible and unique products.

Based in Somerset West on the Western Cape, Creator Stephanie Bentum’s “kraft” is making felted yarn and material and then using this to create wonderfully textural accessories and custom products. The manufacturing is very labour intensive but simple. The creations are made from 100% Merino wool that has been felted and dyed. Felting involves matting combed wool until it forms a surface similar to a woven fabric.

African Soul

Much of African design is handmade: you feel the maker's passion and journey in their work. The pieces transcend products that are mass produced and identical.  Handcrafted African baskets, bowls, rugs, vessels, textiles and stools can bring soul to even the most sterile interiors.

In Southern Africa, there is a wonderful mix of cultural influences. The result is products that are individual, distinctive and charismatic. The aesthetic is defined by vivid colour, the warmth of community spirit and a deep respect for nature.

A few pieces that are in store now and will be arriving over the next week…

ANU by Anita Ben

ANU is born from designer Anita Ben’s deep connection with the cultural kaleidoscope of India. Her designs are inspired by the splendour and romantic decadence of the subcontinent. All her pieces are hand printed, beaded and crafted to ensure the highest attention to detail and individual finishes.
ANU was launched in the Summer of 2007, after a year of development and traveling around India. Anita Ben has sourced some of the countries finest embroiderers and printers and created a range that has been received with much fervour.

Homewares with soul...

Peponi Home is a homewares store born from a passion of all things African.  We wish to find and supply sustainable natural materials that can combine with simple, elegant design to form a homeware brand that is innovative, contemporary and timeless.

Owner, Lisa Wright, is determined to show that Africa is not only a place of hardship; it is also filled with beauty, incredible scenery, friendly people and exceptional craft and homewares.  By promoting well-made, well priced, functional and artistic craft, Peponi Home aims to contribute to the emergence of Africa as a source of inspiration and spiritual strength.

“I think it’s important to blend a mix of both contemporary textures and finishes with a more tactile organic finish. By simply putting a handwoven Buhera basket from Zimbabwe amongst a blend of stainless steel and polished concrete completely changes your look, so it’s very versatile", says Lisa Wright, Owner of Peponi Home.
